3. At that time (the time of concentration) the seer (Purusha) rests in his own (unmodified) state. As soon as the waves have stopped, and the lake has become quiet, we see its bottom. So with the mind; when it is calm, we see what our own nature is; we do not mix ourselves but remain our own selves.
4. At other times (other than that of concentration) the seer is identified with the modifications.

There seems to be a single explosion, a seismic centre of philosophy, probably in the Himalayas out of which arose Zen, Vajrayana, the yoga sutras, Shaivism ...
It's hard to read one without seeing the other reflected in the words. Unless, of course, the translator knew only one, and translated the various schools of thought into a single one
