all hands to the bottle ( see inside )

the weekend holds promise. and spirits. a friend will turn up.
and the glass shall re-appear.
evenings with Kishore Kumar and/or Rafi. and a few couplets from
Ghalib.a touch of PJs and some lime.
and whiffs of smoke over evening chai. absolute timepass.
is there a better thing in this world ?

quote ( mine )
man is born free, but everywhere he is among monkeys

quote ( movie )
everything is a copy of a copy of a copy

quote ( copied from Zen quotes from Stephen Wright )
on the other hand, we've other fingers

quote ( another Zen one )
A Zen master once said to me, "Do the opposite of whatever I tell you." So I didn't.

hey EnJay :[ ;) pardon pretentious tone ]
since me no Zen master, I can't profess to be knowledgeable on what consitutes a 'good zen book'.I can only reveal the path I took ..
- to begin with, the chapter on Zen buddhism in
Fritjoff Capra's "The Tao of Physics". puts
things in a nutshell.
- this site here
http://www.serve.com/cmtan/buddhism/Lighter/
- some books I want to read, but have
not been able to
-- "Zen Flesh,Zen Bones"
-- works by a guy called D.T Suzuki (
supposed to be a Super Zen Guy )
- "Zen and the Art of Motorcylce Maintenance"
they say , is about Zen because it does not
refer to Zen directly in anyway
_sinister chuckle_ soft copy chahiye to bolo
medam

Note : Zen literature cherishes the Void and emptiness, of mind and nature.confuses me all the time.

Enjay : and oh yeah, I forgot the statutory warning. This stuff, like Ayn Rand, is observed
to produce weird behaviour in friends and
associates.

Read this. Salinger (Seymour Glass):

"I answered that it seemed to me that the war might go on forever, and that I was only certain that if peace ever came again I would like to be a dead cat. Mrs Fedder thought I was cracking a joke of some kind. A sophisticated joke. She thinks I'm very sophisticated, according to Muriel. She thought any deadly-serious comment was the sort of joke one ought to acknowledge with a light, musical laugh. When she laughed, I suppose it distracted me a little, and I forgot to explain to her. I told Muriel tonight that in Zen Buddhism a master was once asked what was the most valuable thing in the world, and the master answered that a dead cat was, because no one could put a price on it."

Did you kknow that Salinger was majorly into reading the Vedas, about Zen and such like? Ah... Salinger...
