is it just me , or is deleuze's rhizome, delanda's destratified, mcluhan's 'roads and paper routes' chapter, and howard bloom's Global Brain,
.. all variations of particle swarm optimization/ant colony optimization, with human needs and prospect theory thrown into the works ... ?

here's a shitake mushroom for you
you can only love something if you can burn it to the ground too
otherwise, you're just an employee
just finished watching 'ministry on un-gentlemanly warfare'
guy ritchie's no quentin tarantino and this is no inglorious basterds but oh boy i love this movie
i even forget churchill's looting and starving of india ... for a moment
happy mix of indiana jones /raiders lost ark, explorer's guild, and where eagles dare
some parts are lame - the song-dance-number at the casino is lacklustre and unconvincing
luhr, the great-value-hans-landa is good but one dimensional , but that is in line with the indiana jones thing ..
too much random killing of random people - it's more like a video game ...
heron is awesome, man of the moment and infinite depth and all
opening sequence is the best of the best of the best
all the characters, in reality, look so thin and muscle less ...
i take this opportunity to laud the sten gun and all those who carried it and used it to good effect .. the sheer genius of the thing is mind blowing.. really .. if you were lucky you got a handle/grip.. but that thing won the war
time to dust off cryptonomicon
the first i got for under 100 at a second hand book shop in kandivili ...
read it on the bus ( it's perfectly normal to retro-polate my bussing and bus-reading back to my mumbai days but i never took the bus in mumbai, if i recall ...)
here's the original green berets book

one who tilts at windmills should take care
lest he become one himself
windmillitis is a manageable condition, however
(he ,because, women rarely tilt at windmills, they have more common sense ...)

joys of memorizing
jupyter has a pair of commands which work like this -
a - add a new cell *above* this cell
b - add a new cell *below* this cell
I successfully manage to confuse them by remembering a = 'after' and b = 'before'
speaking of which, i am planning to memorize the 108 stories of Ajahn Brahm's book (opening the door to your heart/ who ordered this truckload of dung)
have got the 11 chapter titles done i think

if i find what i expect, i've made a measurement
if i find what i didn't expect, i've made a discovery
the world is, therefore, discovery and measurement
given the chaotic universe allows you to expect nothing
it's a serioes of discoveries
and therefore the only valid emotion is surprise
hence terry practchett history monks
a-ha !

the train has left already
charlotte joko beck says :
“Most of our difficulties, our hopes, and our worries are empty fantasies. Nothing has ever existed except this moment. " but we never know 'this moment'. all our knowledge, our knowing ,or even being aware ( cogsci's will know these are different things :) ) happens post hoc, after the reality factory has digested the signals and synthesized a brand new reality for 'us' to consume, (wen the eternally surprised), and having fed this to into our 'person' program, responses have been generated and slotted into the 'i feel' centres, and signals sent to the actuators...... there is no I in this moment. it comes afterwards

so much for the rich dad took his kid to the village story
then the rich dad set up a factory in the village, and the effluents from the factory destroyed the farming and the villagers had no option except to take up jobs at the factory to pay off their debts , as the city slickers started buying up farmland for peanuts due the villagers not being able to meet their debt obligations and soon the villagers started living in cramped slums near the factory cos that's all they could afford, and soon they descended into alcoholism and drugs cos of the meaninglessness of it all, and started dying due to diseases from polluted air and water but it was blamed on their drinking drugs and poor living conditions, and so when the rich dad's son came for a visit the next time, he saw nothing, and rich dad didn't have to take any further action ....
stories can go either way
every civillization/culture reaches a point where its seniors feel themselves to be apt for any situation and feel like they have enough
you can read George Sheehan for this
in our era, we are never apt enough nor have enough

thoughts thunk while thinking
ideas for a better life
* motorcycles with sidecars *
are motorcyles with sidecars the next big thing in indian auto ?
bangalore could use them - maybe if the sidecars were enclosed and air-conditioned ,IT folks would use them ?
* schools for not-clerks *
let's face it, our schools are all 'clerk schools'. maybe highly advanced glorified clerks but not full humans. only geeks and larvals. how about schools which are like montessories, but curated/mentored all the way into adoloscence ? I remember my engineering days, we would only see an engine once a week and that too we weren't allowed to touch it, not much. let everyone touch and play with their tools and learn - it will cost a lot more, but sure, economy needs its purple dyes, and this will put educators in the 'well-paying' segment
intelligence == play says iben browning and nels winkless..
the peacemaker is a vastly underrated movie
in the opening scene , a russian nuke is being moved in a train drawn by a steam locomotive ... drips with irony the scene
