fasting needs chanting, cos we tend to eat or surf to avoid processing painful emotions , supressing them.

fasting makes them bubble up to the surface, and without a beginning-of-the-day cleansing, worship ritual, and a regular chanting to associate/de-associate/normalise, they take over your mind
